For Services and Clinicians
A structured online AOD program your clients can access anywhere
The Wagon is a 10-module, self-paced psychoeducational program designed for people who want to change or maintain changes with their alcohol or other drug use.
It is designed to sit alongside existing care rather than replace it.
What The Wagon Is
The Wagon is a structured online program that clients work through in their own time. It is:

A 10-module, self-paced program delivered via short videos and guided exercises.
Grounded in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), relapse-prevention and related evidence-informed approaches.
Focused on education, skills and self-reflection, rather than therapy or counselling.
Suitable for people who are already contemplating change, actively changing, or maintaining progress.

The Wagon is not a crisis service and does not provide individual counselling, medical management or emergency support.
How You Might Use The Wagon
AOD and Specialist Services
For AOD, rehab and community services, The Wagon may be helpful:
As part of aftercare/step-down following residential rehab or withdrawal.
As a structured adjunct alongside individual counselling or case management.
As a resource for clients who have already made changes and want help to consolidate progress and manage risk situations.
GPs and Allied Health Practitioners
For GPs and allied health practitioners, The Wagon may be helpful:
-
For patients who do not have easy access to local AOD or psychology services (e.g. rural or remote areas).
-
As a structured option between brief interventions in primary care and more intensive specialist treatment.
-
As part of a relapse-prevention/maintenance plan after other episodes of care.
How It Works
-
You identify a suitable person.
Someone who is thinking about change, actively changing, or wanting support to maintain progress, and who is not in acute crisis.
-
You introduce The Wagon
You might briefly explain that it is a 10-module, self-paced online program focused on education and skills, and share the enrolment link.
-
They enrol and work through modules
Participants watch short videos, complete optional exercises and handouts, and can pause and revisit material as needed.
-
You remain the primary clinician
Any clinical monitoring, risk assessment and treatment planning remain with you or your service. The Wagon is an additional structured resource, not a clinical service.
-
Optional: program-level feedback
Where appropriate, services can receive simple, de-identified feedback about overall engagement (e.g. modules started/completed across a group), rather than individual clinical information.
Who The Wagon Is (and Isn't) For
The Wagon may be suitable for:
People who have already started to make changes to their alcohol or other drug use.
Clients who can safely engage with a self-directed online program.
People who are interested in learning about triggers, coping strategies and relapse-prevention planning.
People who would benefit from structured reflection between appointments or after more intensive treatment.
The Wagon is not suitable for:
People in acute withdrawal, crisis, or at high risk of harm.
People who require urgent mental health or medical assessment.
Situations where there is imminent risk to self or others.
People needing detoxification, medication management or intensive case management rather than psychoeducation.
What You Can Expect as a Service or Clinician
-
Clear, written information you can give to clients about what The Wagon involves.

-
Respect for your role as the primary treating practitioner or service.
-
No use of client testimonials or identifiable clinical information in marketing.

I’m happy to discuss how The Wagon might fit with your existing pathways and to hear any feedback from your experience of using it.
